At present, the use of new materials for wind power blades uses more PVC foam. There are three problems in the development of this material. One is the environmental protection problem, because when PVC is manufactured, used and disposed of, whether it is incinerated or buried , will cause certain pollution to the soil, air and tax sources of our way of life. The second is the cost issue. In recent years, the entire wind power price has been reduced year by year, which has caused great cost pressure on the entire industry chain. As one of the main raw materials of blades, the core material can account for 15%-20% of the cost. The second is its technological problem. Because PVC has a low short-term high temperature resistance, it is greatly affected by the exothermic peak of the resin and the heating process of the mold. It is easy to cause discoloration of PVC under high temperature during the production process, and more serious carbonization may occur. Condition.


 To solve this problem, the industry proposes to replace pvc foam with pet foam as a core material replacement. First of all, in terms of the material properties of pet, as a thermoplastic material, it can be 100% recycled in the production process, so that the material cost can be greatly reduced in the material itself. Second, because it has an excellent closed-cell structure, it can achieve lower resin absorption of foam monomers in the entire blade production process, which is also a way to reduce blade costs. The second is environmental protection, because PET itself can be 100% recycled, and it can solve the environmental protection problems caused by PVC. Because the properties of PET's own material determine that it has a high high temperature resistance, the highest high temperature resistance temperature of PET foam can reach 200 degrees (in a short period of time), which can make the blade process more adaptable. The latter item of Z is procore-PET, which has a much higher mechanical property than PVC in shear and compression, which can provide a certain technical reserve for later blade design.


Briefly introduce the characteristics of PET foam. First of all it is a 100% recyclable material, secondly suitable for processing temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius, it has an excellent chemical resistance, mainly a very good mechanical PVC is considered to be of the same nature, so the high shear strength and compressive properties of PET foam in the three directions of X/Y/Z are better than those of PVC. Then it has a resin absorption capacity, including fire prevention, smoke prevention, and anti-virus, so the above can be applied to new processes such as hand lay-up, CRTM, including vacuum infusion.
